Tashkent Authorities Uncover Widespread Violations in Electric Vehicle Charging Station Connections
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tashkent city administration has reported numerous violations in the operation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations with capacities exceeding 20 kW.
According to the city authorities, inspections by regulatory bodies revealed cases of charging stations being connected without the required technical specifications and approvals, as well as in violation of technical and fire safety standards.
In some instances, facilities were installed illegally on plots of state-owned land.
The Tashkent administration emphasized that measures are being taken in accordance with current legislation for each violation identified.
Violators included both major market players and individual business entities.
The city administration noted that unauthorized connection of charging stations poses a direct threat to urban infrastructure and the stability of power supply for residents.
Experts warn that overloading electrical networks and transformers can lead to accidents, short circuits, and fires.
Additional consequences include unplanned expenses for the state and municipal budgets to eliminate emergencies and restore infrastructure. The administration also highlighted that the development of e-mobility infrastructure under such conditions occurs uncontrollably, without consideration of the actual capacity of the electrical networks.
Special attention was drawn to cases where charging stations were connected to transformers without accounting for the current load, established power limits, or projected electricity consumption growth in nearby residential buildings.
According to officials, such technical miscalculations and the lack of a coordinated approach to power distribution significantly increase the risk of overloads and emergency shutdowns.
In this context, the city administration urged both residents and businesses to act responsibly regarding safety and compliance with established regulations.
Owners of EV charging stations operating without proper registration or a complete set of documents are advised to bring their operations into full compliance with the law as soon as possible, including obtaining technical specifications, completing approvals, and fulfilling all mandatory procedures.
“Modern infrastructure development is only possible through strict adherence to the law, transparent procedures, and an unconditional priority on public safety,” the city administration stressed.
