Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 January, the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Austria was held in Tashkent.

The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Shokhrukh Gulamov, while the Austrian delegation was led by Elisabeth Weissenböck, Head of the Foreign Economic Relations Department at Austria’s Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Tourism.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the current state and prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation. They also addressed the development of industrial partnerships and collaboration in transport and logistics, energy and green technologies, digitalization, healthcare, tourism, mining, and the agro-industrial sector.

The session highlighted the steady growth of bilateral trade. From January to September 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Austria reached US$261 million, representing a 37.6 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening the partnership and signed a protocol outlining concrete practical steps to further develop Uzbek-Austrian economic cooperation.
