Tashkent and Nizhny Novgorod Regions Sign Cooperation Agreement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Tashkent region led by Hokim Zoir Mirzaev paid a working visit to the Russian Federation.

As part of the visit, Hokim Zoir Mirzaev met with Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin.

Nizhny Novgorod region is a promising administrative area located in the central part of European Russia, with a population of about 3.1 million people. The region comprises 51 municipalities, and its administrative center is the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

The region has established itself as one of the most dynamically developing industrial centers in the country, thanks to its high-tech and science-oriented industries. Industry remains the backbone of the regional economy, accounting for one-third of its gross regional product.

There are about 600 large and medium-sized industrial enterprises operating in the region, along with nearly 50 research institutes and design organizations.

The export structure of the Nizhny Novgorod region includes engineering products, petrochemicals, metal goods, plastics, vehicles, food products, and forest and paper materials.

The region is also known for its traditional crafts and diverse tourism opportunities, including cultural, educational, cruise, health, rural, and eco-tourism. It is home to 3,539 historical, cultural, and architectural heritage sites.

During the meeting, held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation to a new level in the fields of trade, economy, science and technology, culture, humanitarian exchange, and social development.

Zoir Mirzaev highlighted the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the President, as well as their positive results, including the growing socio-economic potential of the Tashkent region.

Following the talks, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Hokimiyat of Tashkent region and the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The document outlines priority areas for bilateral cooperation in the coming years in such sectors as industry, trade, investment and innovation, agriculture, healthcare, education, science and technology, culture, tourism, and labor relations.
