Tashkent airport accepts Uzbeks evacuated from Ukraine

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By this hour, two planes of Uzbekistan Airways, flying from the Polish city of Katowice, landed at Tashkent International Airport.

The night before, at 22:58 local time, the first special plane arrived in Tashkent from Katowice with compatriots evacuated by the government of Uzbekistan from the territory of Ukraine. There were 251 passengers on board the aircraft of the repatriation flight, including women, children, students, employees of various companies who studied or worked in Ukraine.

This morning at 09:15, the second special flight of Uzbekistan Airways landed in Tashkent with 258 citizens of Uzbekistan. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the moment there are about 650 more people in the accumulation zone at the Korchova checkpoint awaiting their return to Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, citizens evacuated to Uzbekistan from Ukraine through Poland are not charged for an air ticket.

Two more repatriation flights, according to preliminary data, will arrive in Tashkent on 2 March at 04:30 and at 06:30 Tashkent time.
