Tanzila Narbaeva: “We consider the OIC as an organization that recognizes our holy religion, Islam, as a factor of peace and progress”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva addressed the participants of the 6th Annual Seminar of the Independent Standing Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the theme: “The importance of promoting and protecting the rights of youth in building peaceful, democratic societies and sustainable development.”

“Uzbekistan considers the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as the most prestigious and effective forum of the countries of the Islamic world. We consider the OIC as an organization that recognizes our sacred religion Islam as a factor of peace and progress, ensuring human rights and interests, calls on the whole community to decent education of youth, as well as the promotion and protection of its rights.

The agenda of the international seminar is most relevant as in the era of globalization more and more new challenges appear, work with youth must be carried out together, highlighting the main priorities and urgent tasks.

For Uzbekistan, the expression “Youth is our future” is not just a beautiful slogan. Our country is young, not only from a historical point of view - we are approaching a 30-year milestone, but also in terms of population - more than 60% of which are young people.

The comprehensive support of the young generation is the main direction of state policy, which runs a red thread in the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan, as well as in all other regulatory documents adopted over the past three years.”

As T. Narbaeva noted, five initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at educating, identifying talents and their support, ensuring youth employment are successfully implemented in all regions of the country.

"This year, New York, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, in an event organized at the initiative of the International Labor Organization, the delegation of Uzbekistan announced the progress of fundamental transformations in the field of youth policy and the practical results achieved in this direction.

But at the same time, we know that there are still many problems that we need to work on: improving youth, introducing a healthy lifestyle, providing the younger generation with a quality education, creating additional conditions for identifying and realizing the abilities and talents of young people, and ensuring decent employment, gender equality and more. ”

Also, the head of the Senate proposed to analyze the existing international and regional mechanisms for the protection and promotion of youth rights.

“Based on the best practices of countries, it is advisable to develop final recommendations that will be useful for all countries - members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in raising a worthy young generation, as well as to stimulate young people to make a worthy contribution to the further development of their country,” Tanzila Narbaeva emphasized.
