Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the 150th Jubilee Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tanzila Narbaeva, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, held a series of bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.

On April 6, she met with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chairperson of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. During the meeting, they discussed ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation and expand inter-parliamentary relations.

Valentina Matviyenko emphasized the importance of sustainable interaction between the parliaments of Russia and Uzbekistan, expressing readiness to continue active dialogue both bilaterally and within international parliamentary organizations.

On the same day, Tanzila Narbaeva met with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye.

The two sides discussed the prospects for developing inter-parliamentary relations, with a special focus on the potential of parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

It was emphasized that intensifying contacts between the upper chambers of the parliaments of the two countries, organizing visits, and participating in joint forums would be an important step towards deepening bilateral cooperation.
