Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 October, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev at the site of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of States Parties of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) in Samarkand.
During the meeting, topical issues of bilateral cooperation and inter-parliamentary interaction were discussed.
Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation, establishing a mutual exchange of experience on various aspects of lawmaking. In particular, it is necessary, with the assistance of parliamentarians, to achieve new tangible results, primarily within the framework of the implementation of bilateral agreements at the highest level, providing their legal basis. An important role in this direction should be played by the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the Jogorku Kenesh.
In turn, Nurlanbek Shakiev noted that the development of friendly and good-neighborly relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, and thanks to the established close, trusting contacts, direct and regular dialogue at all levels, significant positive dynamics have been observed in recent years in the development of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of intensifying direct contacts between the deputies of the border regions, further increasing the volume of bilateral trade, as well as strengthening bilateral ties in the field of culture, education, science and art.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold the third meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission in early 2023 in one of the regions of Uzbekistan.
