Tanzila Narbaeva discusses expansion of Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General of the UN and Regional Director of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) for Europe and CIS, Ivana Živković.
The meeting featured a constructive exchange of views on the current issues of Uzbekistan's interaction with the UN, particularly the prospects for further cooperation with UNDP and other specialized UN agencies.
The discussions focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, poverty reduction, strengthening democratic governance, environmental protection, improving the market economy, and implementing inclusive policies.
Special attention was given to the development of rural areas as one of the priority areas of joint work.
The meeting also included an exchange of opinions on the ongoing implementation of joint projects between Uzbekistan and UNDP, as well as defining potential steps to deepen the partnership in the future.
