Tanzila Narbaeva Discusses Cooperation Prospects in Decent Work with ILO Coordinator

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As previously reported, a parliamentary delegation from Uzbekistan is participating in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, taking place in Geneva.

As part of the visit, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with Yuri Sterk, the newly appointed Senior Coordinator of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the development of cooperation in labour and employment, as well as the promotion of decent work standards across the country.

High praise was given to the wide-ranging reforms implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at improving labour relations, creating new jobs, strengthening social protection, and reducing poverty.

Yuri Sterk noted that the initiatives announced by the President during his recent meeting with trade union representatives are fully aligned with the ILO’s objectives and expressed readiness for close cooperation in their implementation.

During the talks, the sides discussed the development of the “Decent Work Country Programme” for 2026–2030.

It was noted that the upcoming consultations in Tashkent with the participation of ILO experts will be an important step toward enhancing social stability and protecting labour rights in Uzbekistan.
