Syrdarya Region to Establish Hungarian Technopark and “Smart Villages”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At an extraordinary session of the Syrdarya Regional Kengash of People’s Deputies, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented new investment projects involving Hungarian entrepreneurs aimed at developing the regional economy and increasing the efficiency of economic activity.

In the Khavas district, a technopark is planned on a 50-hectare plot with investments totaling US$300 million. The regional hokim has been instructed to visit Hungary to showcase the investment potential of the region and to assemble a portfolio of projects.

Hungarian partners have proposed a “Smart Village” program for two mahallas in Khavas. Within this initiative, transparency in spending, support for needy families, creation of jobs, and opportunities for entrepreneurs will be made available through a single open-access system.

The hokim of the region, together with the Agency for Management Efficiency, has been tasked with starting the implementation of this initiative.
