Syrdarya Region and Hungary Strengthen Regional Cooperation and Seek Growth Opportunities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Governor of Syrdarya Region, Erkijon Turdimov, held talks with József Rozgonyi, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Hungary to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, it was particularly emphasized that the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Hungary on 20 May 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, marked an important milestone in the development of Uzbek-Hungarian relations.
It was noted that the agreements reached during the visit laid a solid foundation for the activation of comprehensive cooperation, including the strengthening of ties at regional and economic levels.
Both sides acknowledged the steady development of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries. In this context, prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in Syrdarya Region were discussed in sectors such as education, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Particular attention was paid to the introduction of innovative solutions, the development of export-oriented industries, and the creation of new jobs.
To enhance direct contacts between the regions of the two countries, a proposal was made to establish interregional partnership between Syrdarya Region and Hungary’s Hajdú-Bihar County.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to carry out consistent and focused work on implementing promising investment projects aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
