State Visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Commences

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has arrived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on a state visit.

During the flight through Pakistani airspace, the President’s aircraft was escorted by fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force. At Nur Khan Airport, President Mirziyoyev was welcomed by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.

The state flags of both countries were raised, and an honor guard was formed.

The visit program includes meetings with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as the first session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

On February 6, President Mirziyoyev will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and participate in the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Business Forum.
