Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to continue active international cooperation to combat coronavirus, a video conference was organized by specialists from Uzbekistan and Japan on combating coronavirus infection. The embassy of Uzbekistan in Tokyo said in a statement.

The event was attended by the Head of the Health and Welfare Bureau of the Nagoya City Hall, Professor of the Nagoya City University Kiyofumi Arai, the chief physician of the Hospital of the City University Hirotaka Ohara, the head of the infection control department of the Atsushi Nakamura City Hospital, the Director General of the Tourism, Culture and Exchange Bureau of the Nagoya City Hall Toshinori Matsuo and others.

From the Uzbek side, the vice-rector of the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors Munirakhon Kasimova, as well as professors and leading infectious disease specialists, pulmonologists, therapists, epidemiologists and resuscitators of Uzbekistan (over 40 people) took part.

During the videoconference, the participants got acquainted with the current epidemiological situation in the two countries, as well as exchanged information and experience in the fight against coronavirus infection, and in the implementation of treatment and preventive measures. Particular attention was paid to measures for the rehabilitation of infected patients

The Japanese side provided detailed information on the first and second waves of the course of the coronavirus in the country, as well as the evolution of changes in virus strains.

In turn, the Japanese side was familiarized with the measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to protect public health and effective treatment of patients with coronavirus infection.

During the event, an exchange of views took place on effective ways to treat and prevent the coronavirus pandemic.

At the end of the meeting with the Japanese side, an agreement was reached to continue practical contacts between specialists and to organize the next joint video conference in the near future.
