Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 January 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India Manish Prabhat.
During the conversation, the parties noted the successful holding of a virtual Summit in December 2020 between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, and also discussed certain aspects of bilateral cooperation in the Afghan direction.
The Indian side was informed about the measures taken by Uzbekistan to facilitate the launch of a peaceful political process, the ongoing transport and communication projects in Afghanistan.
The Indian Ambassador highlighted the active participation of Uzbekistan in establishing a long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, restoring its socio-economic infrastructure and promoting inclusive inter-Afghan negotiations.
The parties also discussed the prospects for interaction in the educational sphere between Uzbekistan and India, in particular through the Educational Center for training Afghan citizens in Termez.
