Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 April 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the efforts of the two countries to expand cooperation in the Afghan direction.
The Japanese side expressed its readiness to continue to actively contribute to the establishment of long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, the restoration of its socio-economic infrastructure in the interests of the entire Afghan people.
In this regard, the importance of the upcoming International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities”.
A thorough exchange of views also took place on the further development of the situation in Afghanistan and on the efforts of the international community to advance the inter-Afghan negotiation process.
