Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation expressed support for the efforts of Uzbekistan on Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Zamir Kabulov, Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, considers Uzbekistan’s approaches to Afghanistan as the most pragmatic and correct. The Russian diplomat stated this on the sidelines of the international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development", held on 26 July in Tashkent.

During his speech, Zamir Kabulov highly positively assessed the policy of Uzbekistan in the Afghan direction, noting that the active position of Tashkent on Afghanistan serves as an example for the states of the region. At the same time, he stressed that the priority for everyone should be the implementation of large infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, which contribute not only to the restoration of the Afghan economy, but also to its closer integration into regional trade and economic ties.

In addition, the Russian special representative stated the need to unfreeze the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in the amount of US$7 billion. "The Afghan people today are facing a severe economic crisis and are in dire need of financial resources," he stated.

On 25-26 July, in the city of Tashkent, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev, the International Conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development" is being held.

For the first time, special representatives of more than 20 states of Central and South Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region, directly involved in the Afghan settlement, heads and specialists of a dozen international and regional organizations, including the UN , the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as the delegation of the Interim Government of Afghanistan gathered in Tashkent.

Along with this, domestic experts, scientists and researchers, heads and experts of leading analytical centers of the neighboring states of Afghanistan, including from all Central Asian countries, Russia, the USA, Iran, Pakistan, India and Belgium, took part in the forum.
