Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 October 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, met with a delegation of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress led by the Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory Meeks.
The current state and prospects for further development of cooperation in priority areas of the bilateral agenda were discussed at the meeting.
Special attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan, in particular the humanitarian situation, as well as joint measures for the economic recovery of this country.
As it was noted, Uzbekistan is interested in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, involving the country in regional economic processes, including through the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
The congressmen stressed the active participation of Uzbekistan in organizing the evacuation of foreign citizens from Afghanistan, the implementation of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
