Speaker of Uzbekistan’s Lower House Meets Bangladesh Ambassador

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An official meeting took place at the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis between Speaker of the lower house Nuriddin Ismoilov and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Muhammad Monirul Islam.

The two sides discussed the current state and prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue.

At the start of the talks, the ambassador was briefed on the implementation of large-scale reforms under Uzbekistan’s updated Constitution and the long-term “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy. Special attention was given to the Legislative Chamber’s lawmaking work and parliamentary oversight mechanisms.

Ambassador Islam expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the pace of Uzbekistan’s development under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He noted Uzbekistan’s growing role as a regional hub for major international forums and events.

A key focus of the meeting was enhancing direct contacts between the two parliaments. Both parties agreed that systematic inter-parliamentary cooperation is a vital tool for advancing bilateral relations.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of establishing the “Uzbekistan–Bangladesh” parliamentary friendship and cooperation group within the Oliy Majlis to strengthen political and economic partnerships.
