Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan Holds Talks with Jordanian Ambassador on Expanding Political and Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, met with Demia Zuhair Haddad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Uzbekistan.
The discussions focused on further developing the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Jordan, grounded in mutual respect and trust. It was noted that in recent years bilateral cooperation has steadily expanded, strengthening political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and inter-parliamentary ties.
Special attention was given to enhancing inter-parliamentary interaction. The Jordanian Parliament’s role in implementing national reforms was highlighted, while in Uzbekistan, the Oliy Majlis actively supports and legislatively ensures reforms aimed at sustainable state and societal development.
Both sides expressed interest in broadening inter-parliamentary dialogue and exchanging experience in legislative processes, parliamentary oversight, and other areas of parliamentary work.
The meeting also covered preparations for an official visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation led by Faisal Akif Miskal Al-Fayez, Speaker of the Senate of the Jordanian Parliament, scheduled for 3–7 February 2026. During the visit, a Memorandum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Senate of Jordan is expected to be signed.
Additionally, the parties exchanged views on cooperation in medicine, including digital health, higher education, and technology, as well as on organizing the first joint business forum between Jordan and Uzbekistan.
