Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the response to the parliamentary request of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov "On the state of work on development of criteria for determining the level of poverty, minimum standards and regulatory frameworks for social security" was considered.

“Studies carried out by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber, analyzes in this direction indicate the existence of a number of shortcomings in this area. In the response to the parliamentary inquiry, it was noted that indeed, due to some factors, a number of inaccuracies arise. For example, as a result of receipts to the settlement accounts of the city of Khiva, Khiva, Yangiarik districts of Khorezm region, several times less funds compared to other territories provided various assistance to families with the same socio-economic status. In order to prevent these inconsistencies in this territory, it is planned to re-include 23 thousand members of 5.5 thousand families in the "Iron Notebook", said N. Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

The people’s representatives focused on the measures outlined in the response of the ministry to reduce poverty, strengthen the legal framework for its definition, formulate criteria, methodology for determining poverty.

The deputies stressed that in the current difficult conditions of the pandemic, the urgent issues are the support of socially needy segments of the population, the reduction of poverty through the development of entrepreneurship, as well as the expediency of strengthening parliamentary and deputy control over the work carried out in this direction.
