Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential resolution "On measures to improve the quality of education in specialized boarding schools for blind and visually impaired children, as well as further improve their activities" was adopted.

According to the resolution, specialized boarding schools for blind and visually impaired children were assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and became known as Nurli Maskan specialized boarding schools (Nurli Maskan schools). 

The practice of treatment, rehabilitation and rehabilitation of students of Nurli Maskan schools will be introduced with the involvement of qualified doctors from the Republican Clinical Hospital for Eye Diseases, the Republican Specialized Center for Eye Microsurgery, the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and other medical institutions.

Also, on the territory of all Nurli Maskan schools, video surveillance devices will be installed and integrated with the relevant territorial internal affairs bodies.

From 2022/2023 academic year:

every six months, the need of Nurli Maskan schools for textbooks and teaching aids, fiction and children’s literature in Braille, printed and audio literature in various specializations and areas is studied and a list of literature is formed based on the study;

regional and republican subject Olympiads for blind and visually impaired children are organized separately for graduate students;

for students of Nurli Maskan schools, training courses are organized to teach information technology, foreign languages, professions and entrepreneurship; 

a system will be established for publishing literature based on the Braille alphabet in the relevant specialties and areas of the university;

it is allowed to conclude, in accordance with the established procedure, contracts with publishing and printing enterprises that publish textbooks and teaching kits for the blind and visually impaired, on the basis of declared prices.

Since September 2022, Nurli Maskan schools have been creating modernly equipped complexes (training workshops) separate for boys and girls in social and everyday areas.

Also, in educational institutions where an inclusive education system has been introduced, close relatives of blind and visually impaired children are given the opportunity to attend classes with them.

By the end of 2022, special computer programs in national design will be created and introduced into the educational process, consonant with Uzbek speech synthesizers and other semantic-auditory tools for Nurli Maskan schools.

From the 2022/2023 academic year, sports groups will be organized in specialized boarding schools for in-depth training of blind and visually impaired children, as well as children with musculoskeletal disorders in Paralympic sports (judo, football, athletics).

From 1 October 2022, preparatory groups will be created on the basis of Nurli Maskan schools to prepare children with visual impairments for school for a period of one year. 

By the end of 2022, special areas for teaching traffic rules will be organized on the territory of Nurli Maskan schools, and measures will be taken to install sound traffic lights and innovative road signs in the areas where blind and visually impaired children live.
