Some 150 Afghans crossed the border of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Since 23 June, Afghan armed men have repeatedly tried to illegally cross the border of Uzbekistan. Their total number has reached 150 today. This was reported by the Press Secretary of President Sherzod Asadov.

He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 24 June expressed an official position on the violence in Afghanistan.

Asadov noted that after conducting investigative and interrogative measures, in accordance with international law, the armed men were returned to Afghanistan.

He added that currently, not a single citizen of Afghanistan has received illegal asylum on the territory of Uzbekistan.

“The inviolability of the Uzbek borders is beyond doubt. Uzbekistan will not allow illegal entry into its territory in the future,” Asadov said.

Uzbekistan is interested in the further development of good-neighborly relations with Afghanistan and advocates non-interference in the internal affairs of this state, he added.
