Solar and Wind Power Plants in Uzbekistan Produce 7 Billion kWh of Electricity Since the Start of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Since the beginning of 2025, solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan have generated 7 billion kWh of electricity, the Ministry of Energy said.
As of 28 August 2025, the country operates 12 solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 4,582 MW and 4 wind power plants producing “green” energy.
The first connection of solar power plants in Namangan and Samarkand regions to the grid occurred in 2022, generating 434 million kWh, followed by 576.9 million kWh in 2023. In 2024, nine solar and one wind power plant produced a total of 4.86 billion kWh.
From the beginning of 2025, as of 2 August, solar and wind power plants had produced 6 billion kWh, and by 28 August, this figure reached 7 billion kWh, averaging 29.1 million kWh per day. Of this, solar power plants accounted for 4.3606 billion kWh, and wind power plants contributed 2.6394 billion kWh.
The use of renewable energy has saved 2.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of over 2.94 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
Additionally, as of 28 August 2025 at 16:00, total electricity production from all hydro, solar, and wind power plants in the country reached 11.908 billion kWh, accounting for 21.5% of the total electricity generation in 2025. This has saved 3.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the release of more than 5 million tons of harmful gases.
For reference, this volume of energy can supply electricity to 7.4 million households for 8 months or 4.9 million households for a full year at standard consumption levels.
