Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 June 2021, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev met with Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

The meeting was also attended by the UNDP Resident Representative M. Dimovska.

The parties noted the strengthening in recent years of bilateral relations, including joint work with UN institutions.

Detailed information was given on the large-scale reforms in politics, economy, democratic reforms, the strengthening of the role of political parties, civil society, and ensuring the rights and interests of citizens, carried out in our country under the leadership of the head of state.

It was noted that an important direction of the state policy of Uzbekistan is the consistent achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals until 2030. A number of measures have been taken in this direction, joint projects with UNDP are being implemented.

The issue of maintaining multilateral partnerships on gender equality was also discussed.

Egger highly appreciated the democratic reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness for further development of cooperation.

The parties expressed their readiness to further deepen cooperation, and also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
