Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Ferghana district, two men were detained while attempting to illegally bring gold jewelry into Uzbekistan from Kyrgyzstan.

As part of measures to protect state borders and combat smuggling, an operational inspection was conducted jointly with the State Security Service’s Border Troops and the Ferghana Regional Department.

The two individuals, born in 1991 and 1993, were caught attempting to smuggle gold jewelry totaling 19.119 kilograms, valued at approximately 20 billion soums. The confiscated items have been registered as evidence.

The jewelry has been sent for expert examination, and authorities are considering the initiation of a criminal case.
