Six Detained in Andijan Over Kidnapping and Humiliation Case
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement authorities in Andijan region have detained six individuals suspected of abducting and publicly humiliating a 27-year-old woman from Izbaskan district.
The incident reportedly occurred on 23 December last year. According to investigators, the crime was organized by a 34-year-old woman who, while undergoing treatment in a hospital, enlisted three acquaintances aged between 21 and 30 to carry out an act of revenge.
The victim was allegedly lured to a medical facility under false pretenses, where she was subjected to humiliating treatment.
Later, two men aged 26 and 27 joined the group. The woman was forcibly placed in a white Gentra car and taken to a deserted area in the “Jevachi” mahalla of Andijan district, where her hair was cut using a hair clipper.
One of the participants recorded the incident on video, which was later posted online and sparked public outrage.
A criminal case has been opened by the investigative department of the Andijan city police under Article 137, Part 2, point “v” of the Criminal Code (“Kidnapping”). All suspects have been detained in accordance with legal procedures.
The alleged organizer has admitted her guilt. The investigation is being conducted under the special supervision of the Andijan regional prosecutor’s office.
