Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 10:00 on 15 August 2021, there is a detente of the situation in the area of the Termez-Hairaton bridge. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

In particular, the bulk of the Afghan citizens who had accumulated on the Afghan part of the bridge left the bridge and the adjacent territory on their own.

This became possible as a result of the active political and diplomatic measures taken, as well as the explanatory work carried out.

On 14 August, at one of the sections of the State Border with Afghanistan, a group of servicemen of the Afghan Armed Forces in the amount of 84 people crossed the state border line and were detained by border forces of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the violators of the border did not resist and asked for help, including medical aid for the three wounded.

At the same time on the Afghan part of the "Termez-Khayroton" bridge, an accumulation of military personnel of the Afghan government forces was noted. Measures are being taken to provide humanitarian assistance to these persons.

Earlier it was noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is negotiating with the Afghan side on the return of Afghan citizens to their homeland and the settlement of the situation in the area of the Termez-Hairaton bridge.
