Single pensioners and people with special needs to receive free food products

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on further strengthening targeted social protection and support of elder people and people with special needs”, which approved a set of food and hygiene products, presented to single elder people and people with special needs.

According to the resolution, the elder people and people with special needs will receive 15 products. In particular, each month they can receive 3 kg of flour, 1 kg of rice, 500 grams of buckwheat and 500 grams of macaroni products, 1 kg of beef and 1 kg of poultry, 200 grams of butter, 15 eggs, 1 kg of sugar, 1 liter of edible oil, 100 grams of soap and 200 grams of laundry soap and 150 grams of washing powder.

At the same time, the elder people can select other products or quantity of products and goods within total cost of the set.

The resolution said that social service and social aid to single elder people and people with special needs, who require assistance, will be provided based on individual social service programme.

Individual programme will be drafted based on individual assessment of needs of the person. The resolution said that Uzbek universities will train specialists on social work with elder people and people with disabilities.
