Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Regional airline Silk Avia plans to launch the first flights in September-October. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports Rano Juraeva in an interview with the Alter Ego project.
It should be noted that Silk Avia was registered in September 2021 and is a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Airports. The airline will be engaged in domestic air transportation.
Rano Juraeva noted that the airline had prepared a business plan and compared various regional aircraft in terms of economy. The company settled on ATR 72-600 aircraft, she added.
The Silk Avia airline planned to purchase three such aircraft for 70 seats, but they are not available on the market. She noted that 75% of all flights in the regions are carried out on these aircraft. Juraeva added that the company is looking for aircraft on the market and seems to have already found them.
The head of Uzbekistan Airports noted that work is also underway to train the flight crew. Local specialists are trained in Toulouse (France). The company also attracts Russian pilots.
According to her, the airline is working to create a sales system and provide maintenance for ATR 72-600 aircraft at Uzbekistan Airways Technics (UAT).
