It notes that Uzbekistan, like many other countries in the world, is facing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the economy and social sphere, the daily life of the population of cities and regions of the country.

“The President of Uzbekistan unites the efforts of the state and business to provide social support to the population in the current conditions,” the Polish journalist writes.

He notes that special attention is paid by the country’s leadership to the protection of vulnerable segments of the population and ensuring the full functioning of industrial enterprises, the construction industry and infrastructure.

The author talks about the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the formation of a nationwide movement, “Kindness and Support”, aimed at further expanding the scope of targeted provision of food and medicine to needy families and temporarily unemployed people.

It was emphasized that the initiative received the response of the public and business, and entrepreneurs took on the disinterested support of socially vulnerable people in the territory where they operate. The state, in turn, will subsequently provide such businessmen with various benefits and preferences for taxes, leasing, loans, and access to necessary resources.

“The pandemic made it possible to demonstrate a healthy example of the unity of the Uzbek society. The country’s leadership expresses confidence that the nation-wide movement "Compassion and Support" is a vivid manifestation of the power of the country and its people," the article says.

The author gives statistics showing the situation in the republic with the spread of coronavirus. he emphasizes that thanks to measures taken by the country’s leadership, in Uzbekistan, the recovery rate from Covid-19 exceeds the global average. The mortality rate from the virus is also significantly low relative to the world indicators - 0.4% versus 7%.
