Shukurullo Babaev holds meeting with Governor of Leningrad region
During negotiations, the sides discussed cooperation in trade-economic and social spheres. The sides expressed interest in signing an agreement to develop twin relations of the regions.
Drozdenko said that the Russian side is interested in establishing cooperation among businesses of Leningrad and Tashkent regions, purchasing fruits and vegetables, developing tourism, attracting labour forces from Uzbekistan.
Governor of Leningrad region said that agroindustrial complex, tourism, establishing direct contacts among businesses, educational institutions and cultural establishments, exchange in sports are perspective directions of developing cooperation with Tashkent region. He said that the sides should strengthen people’s diplomacy via direct contacts.
Shukurullo Babaev stated that the Uzbek region is ready to supply necessary volume of quality of fruits and vegetable products and provide assistance to organize the business in free economic zone “Angren”, as well as develop cultural and tourism relations between two regions.
It was noted that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Leningrad region made up only US$20.9 million in 2016, which shows great potential in mutual trade.
