Shelter for dogs "Mehr" received the status of NGOs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 October, an open day was held at the Mehr dog shelter dedicated to the World Animal Protection Day. It is symbolic that on this day it became known that the shelter received the status of an NGO.

On the occasion of the international holiday, an event was held in the shelter with the participation of schoolchildren, volunteers and all citizens who are not indifferent to animals. The AKFA Group, Mehr va Oqibat and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan provided support in holding the open day.

It should be noted that the status of a non-governmental non-profit organization will allow the Mehr shelter to accept donations from legal entities and individuals. As a result, the animal protection shelter’s activities will become widespread. NGO Mehr will publish detailed reports on the use of funds.

The main goal of the event at the shelter is to attract the public to the problem of homeless animals. Representatives of the Society for the Protection of Animals "Mehr va Oqibat" conducted a lesson of kindness and mercy for students of schools in Tashkent and Pskent. According to animal rights activists, such activities contribute to the formation of a spiritual and moral position in children in relation to animals and the upbringing of readiness to do good deeds.

The open house program also included a tour of the shelter, interactive with animals, which allowed guests to get to know the inhabitants of the shelter better, play and walk the tailed beasts.

A charity fair of pet supplies was held on the territory of the shelter. In addition, Mehr employees accepted applications from those willing to take a dog from the shelter. As a result, on the same day, two pets found a family and a home.

At the event, the specialists of the shelter answered questions from guests and schoolchildren, talked about elementary home education and caring for four-legged animals. At the meeting, children and adults were explained the nuances in the behavior of animals and listed the problems that a novice owner may face.

The Mehr shelter is located in Pskent district of Tashkent region. Shelter is a type of shelter with limited reception and is designed for 1000 dogs. Today it is the only animal shelter in the country with a veterinary and canine service.
