Shavkat Mirziyoyev visits the tourist center in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the construction of a tourist center in Samarkand region.

The complex is being built on an area of 212 hectares on the coast of the rowing canal in Samarkand region. According to the project, there will be 10 facilities, including a congress hall, hotels and recreation areas.

The construction of a congress hall, the Eternal City caravanserai and 8 hotels is currently underway. Two 22-storey hotels will be five-star, the rest will be four-star.

Despite the large number of hotels in Samarkand, there is a shortage of accommodation during the peak tourist season. This situation was observed, for example, in 2019, when all hotels in the city were fully loaded. At the same time, the great opportunities created by the state for the development of tourism, the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of about 90 countries stimulate further growth in the flow of tourists.

The center under construction will become a tourist hub. There will also be the necessary conditions for holding international events. The center is scheduled to be commissioned in 2022.

The President was provided with information about the possibilities of the new tourist center, the services that will be provided to guests. The head of state instructed to effectively organize the management of the center, train specialists in the field of tourism.

There was also a presentation of projects for the development of tourism infrastructure in Samarkand.

It was noted that the first gastronomic street appeared in Samarkand, and the first tourist village in the territory of the “Konigil” citizens’ gathering in Samarkand region. These facilities not only extend the time spent by tourists in the region, but also contribute to the development of local infrastructure, create sources of additional income for the population.

The head of state also examined the overpass connecting the tourist center with the city, landscaping work carried out on Ust Umar Jurakulov and Afrosiab streets.
