The Convention was signed on 9 June, 2017 at the 17th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Law on Ratification of the SCO Convention on Counteracting Extremism states that Uzbekistan notifies that the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan are designated by the competent authorities responsible for the implementation of the Convention.

The document says that the provisions of the Convention regarding the possibility of using confiscation of property of legal entities and individuals as measures of criminal punishment in the Republic of Uzbekistan will not be applied as it contradicts national legislation.
