Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Issues of economic and investment partnership, acceleration of industrial cooperation, development of a transport and logistics system of mutual supplies, and others of mutual interest were discussed.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan was awarded the Order of Oliy Darajali Imom Bukhoriy.

The award ceremony was held as part of the Samarkand Summit of Turkic States.

It should be noted that the leaders of the two countries have great respect for Imam Bukhari. At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the International Research Center of Imam Bukhari and the School of Hadith Science were established near the mausoleum of the scientist. When the head of our state announced this at the session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2017, the President of Turkiye noted with satisfaction that the honorable name of the great Imam Bukhari was heard from such a high rostrum for the first time.

This year, at the suggestion of the President of our country, the Order "Oliy Darajali Imom Bukhoriy" was established. It is awarded to ulema, researchers, writers, as well as heads of foreign states and governments for special merits in the development of science and enlightenment, the study and wide promotion of the heritage of the thinkers of the Islamic world.

- This highest award is a worthy recognition of your great merits in the wide dissemination of Islamic education, protecting the interests of Muslims around the world, ensuring the unity and well-being of our Ummah, promoting religious tolerance, educating young people in the spirit of good ideas, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev, addressing the Turkish colleague.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev solemnly presented the order to Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President of Turkiye noted that he was extremely happy to receive the order named after the great hadith collector.

- It is a great honor and pride for me to receive this valuable award named after Imam Bukhari, who is the pinnacle of the science of hadith and Islamic law. From the first meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, when he quoted the legacy of Imam Bukhari, I have developed a special respect and warm attitude towards my dear brother. Through his efforts, scientific centers were built in Samarkand, scientists from Turkiye and Uzbekistan are closely cooperating. I accept this order as a strong symbol of the long-standing and eternal brotherhood of our peoples, our relations developing in all spheres. On my own behalf and on behalf of my people, I sincerely thank the President and the people of Uzbekistan for this high attention, - said Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
