Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited boarding school No. 59 in the city of Samarkand. The institution was built in 1974, overhauled in 2009. There are necessary conditions in the educational buildings, hostel and canteen. Today, 259 blind children study here.
The school has scientific and musical circles. Many students have achieved international success in the arts and sports. Last year, 9 out of 19 boarding school graduates entered universities.
The head of state talked with students and teachers. They shared their memories of how Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the institution in 2003 when he was the khokim of Samarkand region, expressed their gratitude to the state for the conditions at school and benefits for entering universities.
- At the heart of all our actions is the goal to exalt the value of a person. Today I am here to know your wishes and concerns. Our goal is to create conditions for you to get a good education, a decent job, your place in society, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Teachers noted the lack of new textbooks, especially books on foreign languages, as well as computer keyboards in Braille. There are few psychologists qualified to work with children with disabilities.
The President stressed that, taking into account all the problems voiced, the opportunities for the blind people will be expanded.
- We will make such a decision, according to which the training of professions will be carried out primarily at school. Each university, each organization will have separate quotas for the blind. The most difficult thing in this matter is preschool education. Therefore, it is necessary to build a kindergarten at each boarding school,” the head of state said.
Officials were instructed to develop a draft of the relevant document.
