Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Arts, literature and sports play an important role in the lives of young people. The head of state in his address at the Youth Forum of Uzbekistan touched upon further tasks for the development of these areas.

- Next year we will widely celebrate the 580th anniversary of the birth of our great ancestor Alisher Navoi. It is important to establish systematic involvement of young people in the work of Hazrat Navoi. Therefore, it is necessary to create adapted versions of the works of an outstanding thinker, develop various programs and mobile applications, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President proposed to build a modern majestic library in Tashkent.

- This palace of enlightenment will be equipped with the latest scientific achievements. It will contain the rarest, unique, most valuable works of our country and the world. I am sure that this place will become our ode, glorifying the rich heritage and the names of great ancestors to the whole world, an object of our pride, a real beacon of knowledge for all compatriots and, above all, for you, our dear children.

Good news has recently arrived for the sports life of our country. According to the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia, the city of Tashkent will host the Asian Youth Games 2025. In this competition, young athletes from 45 countries of the continent will compete in almost 20 sports.

- The fact that such a prestigious international sports games will be held in Uzbekistan for the first time in our history certainly gives us all a sense of pride. At the same time, this places a huge responsibility on us. This is another great opportunity for you to show your abilities and skills, to raise the flag of our Motherland high, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

An instruction was given to hold this sports festival at a high level, to organize regional, city, regional and republican championships, as well as khokim cups in sports included in the program of the Asian Games.

- In order to ensure the physical and spiritual development of the younger generation, including the meaningful organization of their leisure time, wide involvement in mass sports, an electronic platform "Healthy Lifestyle" is being developed. Health paths are being created for walking and cycling, the head of state noted.

In recent years, sports grounds organized in makhallas have become a favorite place for young people. It was noted that this work will be continued. At the same time, measures are being taken to efficiently use school gyms outside of school hours.

The forum openly discussed the problems associated with the spiritual education of youth. It was noted that various conflicts and confrontations are growing in the world, terrorism, extremism and other threats have deeply penetrated the Internet space.

“In such difficult conditions, our youth should be sensitive and vigilant, in every issue, act proceeding, first of all, from the interests of the Motherland. Such virtues as the pursuit of knowledge and the acquisition of professions, respect for the family, spiritual purity, respect for the elders, compassion for the younger, devotion to our values are in the blood of our people, our nation since ancient times. We must not only preserve such a priceless heritage, but also enrich it and pass it on to future generations.

Here I call on our dear parents, grandparents, teachers and mentors, representatives of the intelligentsia and the general public not to remain indifferent to this problem, but to intensify work on educating young people.

No matter how difficult it may be, today it is necessary to find effective methods of upbringing that are suitable for us, in tune with modern trends. We must protect children dear to us from destructive and harmful ideas, crime, drug addiction, a mood of indifference and spiritual poverty. All of us and, first of all, our dear youth should be active in overcoming such negative phenomena. Of course, you are able to preserve the spiritual power and long-lasting traditions of our people, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the forum, the President stressed that any task related to the future of youth is of paramount importance.

- Working with youth should be the main task for all of us - from the President to the minister, from the khokim to the chairman of the mahalla. The time has come for every khokim, every minister, every makhalla chairman to ask the question “What have I done for the youth today? What else can I do for our children tomorrow?” And this work should become an integral part of their daily activities.

My dear children! Never forget that our people, our Motherland are waiting for great achievements from you! It is the greatest happiness in the world to fully justify the country’s high hopes and trust, and to be worthy of it. May you be lucky to fulfill this mission with honor, - emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the end of his speech.
