Share of Tashkent city in Uzbekistan’s GDP makes up 14.6% in 2019

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2019, the largest contribution to the formation of Uzbekistan’s GDP was made by the city of Tashkent with a share of 14.6%, the State Statistics Committee said.

Tashkent and Samarkand regions occupy subsequent places with indicators of 9.8% and 7.3%, respectively. The smallest share in the country’s GDP is Syrdarya (2.0%), Jizzakh (3.0%), Khorezm (3.7%) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.7%).

The leading growth rates of GRP in 2019 were observed in the city of Tashkent (10.5%), Khorezm (7.7%), Namangan (7.0%), Andijan (6.5%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (6.8%). Low rates of GRP growth, compared with the national level (5.6%), were observed in Kashkadarya (1.4%) and Syrdarya (3.6%) regions.

According to the results of 2019, the largest share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in the sectoral structure of the GRP is held in Jizzakh region (56.8%), industry - Navoi region (66.8%), construction and the service sector – Tashkent city (10.2% and 53.3% respectively).

The smallest share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries was recorded in Navoi region (16.7%), industry - in the Surkhandarya region (7.9%), construction and services - in Navoi region (respectively 4.5% and 12.0%).

At the end of 2019, the share of small business in the republic’s GDP amounted to 56.5%. By region, the largest share of small business was observed in Jizzakh (84.1% of the total gross value added created in the region), Namangan (79.2%) and Surkhandarya (78.2%) regions.

The smallest share of small business was noted in Navoi (31.3%), Tashkent (52.7%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (54.4%).

According to preliminary data, the GRP of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in 2019 increased by 6.8% and amounted to 18.73 trillion soums. GRP growth is due to positive growth rates in the main sectors of the regional economy, such as agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 6.7% (share in the structure of GRP - 27.3%), industry - 5.0% (31.0%) construction - 23.8% (8.4%), services - 4.9% (33.3%). At the same time, GRP per capita amounted to 9.94 million soums and increased by 5.2%.

The volume of GRP in Andijan region at current prices made up 32.89 trillion soums and increased, compared to 2018, in real terms by 6.5%. Economic growth is due to positive growth in agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 3.4% (share in the GRP structure - 45.1%), industry –14.7% (22.6%), construction - 7.1% ( 5.5%), in the service sector - 4.4% (26.8%). GRP per capita amounted to 10.62 million soums and increased by 4.5%.

GRP of Bukhara region reached 26.69 trillion soums with an increase of 6.1%. The growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheries amounted to 4.3% (46.0% in the structure of GRP), industry -8.9% (17.6%), construction - 14.1% (7.8%), service industries - 5.2% (28.6%). The volume of GRP per capita increased by 4.4% and amounted to 13.98 million soums.

The increase in GRP of Jizzakh region amounted to 5.9% and reached 15.21 trillion soums. In the sectoral structure of GRP, the growth rate was: in agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 4.4% (share in the structure of GRP - 56.8%), industry - 5.8% (10.9%), construction - 23.9% (6.6%), in the service sector - 4.8% (25.7%). The volume of GRP per capita reached 11.12 million soums and increased by 3.7%.

The volume of GRP of Kashkadarya region made up 36.47 trillion soums and increased, compared to 2018, in real terms by 1.4%. In the following main sectors, positive growth rates were noted: in the sector of agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1.6% (share in the structure of GRP - 36.4%), construction - 110.2% (6.1%), and services - 6.7% (26.5%). In the industry, there was a decrease in volume in comparable prices, which amounted to 94.4% compared to the level of 2018 (the share of this industry in the structure of GRP is 31.0%). GRP per capita decreased by 0.6% and amounted to 11 233.3 thousand soums.

GRP of Navoi region reached 36.68 trillion soums and the increase amounted to 5.2%. GRP growth is due to positive growth in the main sectors of the region’s economy. In agriculture, forestry and fisheries, the growth rate reached 2.3% (share in the structure of GRP - 16.7%), industry - 4.5% (66.8%), construction - 33.0% (4.5%), the service sector - 3.8% (12.0%). GRP per capita increased by 3.4% and amounted to 37.12 million soums.

GRP of Namangan region reached 23.24 trillion soums, which is 7.0% higher than the data in 2018. GRP growth rates are determined by positive growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 2.6% (share in GRP structure - 45.0%), industry - 14.0% (15.0%), construction - 38.7% (6.9%) and the service sector - 4.6% (33.1%). GRP per capita increased by 4.8% and amounted to 8.35 million soums.

The volume of GRP of Samarkand region made up 37.59 trillion soums and the increase reached 4.1%. In this region, positive growth rates were noted in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors - 2.2% (share in the GRP structure - 47.9%), industry - 6.1% (15.8%), construction - 14.1% (5.1%), in the service sector - 4.4% (31.2%). GRP per capita increased by 1.9% to 9.79 million soums.

In Surkhandarya region, GRP grew by 6.3% to 22.35 trillion soums. GRP growth factors were growth rates in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors - 4.6% (share in the structure of GRP - 50.9%), industry - 9.3% (7.9%), construction - 20.6% (8.1%), in the service sector - 5.1% (33.1%). GRP per capita amounted to 8.6 million soums and increased by 4.0%.

The volume of GRP of Syrdarya region reached 10.47 trillion soums and an increase of 3.6%. In this region, positive growth rates were noted in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors - 1.2% (share in the GRP structure - 42.5%), industry - 2.4% (26.0%), construction – 19.5% (6.7%), in the service sector - 4.8% (24.8%). The volume of GRP per capita amounted to 12.5 million soums and increased by 1.7%.

GRP of Tashkent region reached 50.11 trillion soums with an increase of 4.1%. GRP growth is due to positive growth in the following sectors: in industry - 8.2% (share in the structure of GRP - 47.4%), construction - 35.9% (4.6%), services - 4.2% (23.3%). In agriculture, forestry and fisheries, a decrease in volume was noted in comparable prices, which amounted to 93.8% compared to the level of 2018 (the share of this industry in the GRP structure is 24.7%). GRP per capita increased by 2.7% and amounted to 17.16 million soums.

In Fergana region, the volume of GRP grew by 5.4% to 32.94 trillion soums. GRP growth rates are determined by the positive growth rates of the regional branches of economy. In agriculture, forestry and fisheries, the growth rate reached 4.3% (share in the structure of GRP - 35.4%), industry - 5.9% (24.3%), construction - 16.0% (5.8%), the service sector - 4.7% (34.5%). GRP per capita amounted to 8.86 million soums and increased by 3.6%.

GRP of Khorezm region grew by 7.7% to 19.13 trillion soums. GRP growth is due to growth rates in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors - 5.8% (share in the GRP structure - 47.7%), industry - 11.7% (14.8%), construction - 24.9% ( 6.4%), in the service sector - 5.7% (31.1%). GRP per capita increased by 5.9% to 10.33 million soums.

The GRP of the city of Tashkent amounted to 74.52 trillion soums, which is 10.5% higher than in 2018. The main factors of GRP growth were the positive growth rates in industries such as industry - 11.1% (share in the structure of GRP - 36.5%), construction - 28.5% (10.2%), services - 7.1% (53.3%). GRP per capita increased by 8.1% and reached 29.33 million soums.
