Share of industry in GDP reach 24.3% - Uzbek President

Speaking at the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Constitution of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov underlined that the share of industry in GDP of Uzbekistan rose from 14.2% in 1990 to 24.3% currently.

At the same time, President Islam Karimov said that the share of agriculture in economy of Uzbekistan decreased from 34% to 17%.

He said that during independence years Uzbekistan launched capacities on production of automobiles, engines and spare parts to them, processing of oil and gas, production of pharmaceuticals, TV-sets and computers.

President said that Uzbekistan fully modernized food industry, light industry, chemical industry, and construction material industry, which helped to issue competitiveness of the goods.
