Seven banks in Uzbekistan recognized as systemically important

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has announced that seven banks in the country have been recognized as systemically important for the year 2025.

This decision was made on 13 November 2024, in accordance with the regulations set by Resolution No. 4/13 from 18 February 2023, which outlines the criteria for determining systemically important banks.

The parameters considered in determining these banks included asset and liability size, interconnection with other participants in the banking system, the scale of operations, and the complexity of their activities.

The list of systemically important banks for 2025 includes National Bank of Uzbekistan, Agrobank, UzPromStroyBank, National Bank, Ipoteka Bank, Kapitalbank, and Asakabank.

As of 1 October 2024, the share of these banks in the assets of Uzbekistan's entire banking system was 67%.

The Central Bank also noted that these banks will be subject to separate supervision. The regulator emphasized that the ability of systemically important banks to fulfill their obligations is crucial for ensuring the stability of the financial system and strengthening the economic resilience of the country.
