Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8-9 October 2020, meetings of the standing commissions of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States were held. IPA CIS is an organization, uniting legislators from more than ten countries. 

Within the framework of the activities of this structure, representatives of various states express different points of view and political positions on many issues, which makes it possible to agree on topical issues of political, socio-economic interaction and develop common positions acceptable to all participants. The work of the organization also contributes to the establishment of mutual exchange of experience in the field of legislative work and the development of parliamentarism in general.

Given the current epidemiological situation, the events are organized in a mixed format. In particular, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption Shukhrat Chulliev took part in the meeting of the Joint Commission under the IPA CIS on harmonization of legislation in the field of security and countering new challenges and threats through videoconferencing. 

During the meeting, a number of draft model laws in the field of security were considered, as well as Recommendations on the integration of international humanitarian law into the governing documents of the armed forces, the system of military professional education and training of troops (forces) of the CIS member states.

Senator Shukhrat Chulliev also took part in the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security. During the event, in addition to organizational issues and draft model laws, the Model methodology for assessing initiatives in the field of regulating the circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors was considered.

The progress of preparations for the conference on countering international terrorism, which is planned to be held in 2021, was also discussed. The participants in the meeting also agreed on the preliminary agenda and terms of the next meeting of the commission.

Meetings of the standing committees of the organization on political issues, science and education were also held, in which the chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Science, Education and Healthcare Odiljon Iminov, as well as a member of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, foreign investment and tourism Abdukodir Toshkulov.

Also, the fifteenth meeting of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states was held, in which the chairman of the youth parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Mohistara Mukhammadyunusova took part. 

During the meeting, the Coordinator of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly was elected on the candidacy presented by the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan from among the members of the youth parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan.
