Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the visit of the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbayeva to Geneva, a meeting was held with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang.
During the meeting, issues of continuing joint work to protect intellectual property and improve the position of Uzbekistan in the WIPO Global Innovation Index were discussed.
Daren Tang noted that he was closely monitoring the changes taking place in Uzbekistan to protect intellectual property rights, studied in detail the Development Strategy in the field of intellectual property for 2022-2026, approved by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh Mirziyoyev, which is a clear confirmation of the attention state given to this area.
During the meeting, the readiness of WIPO to provide Uzbekistan with comprehensive assistance in further improving national legislation, strengthening the protection of intellectual property, and introducing scientific achievements in every area was noted.
The parties drew attention to the requirement to create national brands and the need to protect geographical names.
As a result of the dialogue, an agreement was reached on WIPO support for a number of initiatives of Uzbekistan in the field of intellectual property.
