Senate Reviews Prosecutor General’s Report on 2024 Prosecutorial Work
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the 10th plenary session of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan, members reviewed the Prosecutor General’s report on the activities of prosecutorial bodies in 2024.
The report highlighted that during the year, the prosecution focused on social protection, employment support, assistance to low-income families, and poverty reduction. In particular, 489 citizens received delayed wages and other payments totaling 3.8 billion soums, while cases of wage embezzlement amounting to 11.2 billion soums were identified and addressed.
Systematic work was also carried out in the economic sector: investment programs were implemented, energy resource theft was prevented, and practices contributing to the shadow economy were suppressed. A total of 29,451 entrepreneurs and foreign investors received practical assistance in protecting their rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests.
Special attention was paid to prosecutors’ participation in courts, anti-corruption efforts, crime prevention, and investigative activities. At the same time, senators noted insufficient oversight in healthcare, reproductive health, and infectious disease prevention, as well as an increase in maternal mortality in Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, and Khorezm.
Regarding crime, out of more than 67,000 offenses committed, nearly 62% could have been prevented. In Fergana and Karakalpakstan, this figure reached 65%, while in Namangan it was almost 70%.
Senators issued recommendations to strengthen control over the enforcement of legislation in healthcare, maternal and child protection, youth and women’s support, as well as environmental protection.
Following the discussion, the Senate adopted the corresponding resolution.
