Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 July 2021, the chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on the development of the Aral Sea region B. Alikhanov met with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia K. Gerhards.

During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, bilateral cooperation has reached a new level.

The parties discussed trade and economic issues. In particular, it was emphasized that there is an interest in the export of Latvian agricultural products to Uzbekistan, and food products and pharmaceuticals from Uzbekistan to Latvia.

In addition, the reforms carried out in order to improve the well-being of the population under the leadership of President Sh. Mirziyoyev, in particular, work on the comprehensive socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, were emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed areas for further development of cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
