Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 May, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev met with Deputy Director, Senior Political Advisor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jonathan Aves.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for deepening cooperation between the EBRD and Uzbekistan were discussed.

The head of the EBRD delegation emphasized the scale of the transformations and reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at improving the living standards of the population, reducing poverty, and ensuring gender equality.

The parties noted the high level of interaction between Uzbekistan and the EBRD achieved in recent years.

Jonathan Aves confirmed the readiness of the EBRD to fully support the achievement of the goals of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue fruitful cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
