Senate discusses child rights protection in Uzbekistan with UNICEF
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 February, the Senate hosted a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Uzbekistan, led by international expert Dr. Naira Avetisyan.
During the discussion, the parties addressed the ongoing reforms in child rights protection in the country, emphasizing that safeguarding children's rights remains a key strategic priority of state policy. It was noted that over 40 legislative acts have been introduced into Uzbekistan’s national legal framework to enhance child protection.
Both sides highly praised joint projects aimed at protecting the rights and interests of children and youth, highlighting their significance and effectiveness. Special attention was given to issues related to upbringing, reproductive health, legal education for schoolchildren, and protection from all forms of violence.
Additionally, discussions focused on expanding cooperation in improving legal and institutional mechanisms in the fields of education, including inclusive education, as well as healthcare.
As a result of the meeting, further steps were outlined to strengthen the partnership between the Senate and UNICEF in key areas of collaboration.
