Senate delegation of the France-Central Asia Friendship Group visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Senate delegation of the France-Central Asia Friendship Group is visiting Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the French Embassy.

The senators met with the Ambassador of the European Union, Ms. Charlotte Adrian, to discuss all European programs being implemented in Uzbekistan.

They then visited the Médecins Sans Frontières branch in Tashkent and spoke with the head of mission, Mr. Andrea Fiori. Topics discussed include the TB control program in Uzbekistan and the MSF activities in Afghanistan.

At the invitation of the Charge d’Affaires, at the French residence, the senators exchanged views with their Uzbek colleagues, Mr. Sodik Safayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Mr. Ravshanbek Alimov, Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism, Mr. Mr. Erkin Gadoev, Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Economic Reforms, a member of the parliamentary group for cooperation with the French Senate, and Mr. Mirbotir Mirkhamidov, Deputy Director for International Relations. They agreed to develop a parliamentary cooperation program to strengthen parliamentary control over the government’s actions, in particular, in the budgetary sphere.

The friendship group mission traveled to Bukhara, where the senators met with Mr. Obidjon Khamidov, Rector of Bukhara University, to discuss university cooperation and the development of French language teaching. 

With the khokim of Bukhara region, Mr. Botir Zaripov, the senators discussed the issues of enhancing the national heritage, the impact of the crisis in connection with the pandemic on tourism activity and ways to develop decentralized cooperation in these areas.
