Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 June 2021, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with the head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan Yu Yu.
During the meeting, issues of assistance in the implementation of the Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to achieve gender equality until 2030, cooperation in the field of gender equality, and the empowerment of women were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation between the National Commission for Gender Equality and UNFPA to further study and implement the Action Plan to expand standard operating procedures for the elimination of gender-based violence.
The parties noted the significant untapped potential of bilateral cooperation, expressed interest in deepening and expanding fruitful interaction through the implementation of specific joint projects in the indicated areas.
The work plan for the empowerment of women and the elimination of gender-based violence was also considered.
The head of the UNFPA office in the Republic of Uzbekistan Yu Yu highly appreciated the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to fulfill the tasks in achieving gender equality.
