Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the thirty-sixth plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkiye on the transfer of convicts" was considered.

ratification of the international agreement creates a legal basis and an opportunity for the citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkiye to serve the sentence imposed by the court in their country.

According to this legal document, the transfer of convicts is carried out in accordance with the procedures specified in the law on the basis of applications from the contracting parties.

During the discussion, the senators emphasized that the serving of sentences by convicts in their own country will allow them to see their close relatives regularly. This will have a positive impact on family relations, as well as facilitate the adaptation of convicts to the social life of society.

Undoubtedly, the adoption of this Law serves to ensure even more effective protection of the rights and interests of citizens, contributes to strengthening the positive image of the republic in the international arena.

As is known, the Agreement was signed on 30 March 2022 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkiye to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As a result of the discussion, the senators approved the Law on ratification of the Agreement.
