Senate approves the law “On Public Control”
The legal act is designed to regulate relations related to the exercise by citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan of the right guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the management of the affairs of society and the state through the exercise of public control over the activities of state bodies.
According to the Senate press service, the law defines subjects, the object of public control, its basic principles. So, citizens, citizens’ self-government bodies, non-governmental non-profit organizations, mass media are included in the subjects of public control.
As an object of public control, the law determines the activities of state bodies, including law enforcement and controlling bodies, and their officials.
The document set forms of public control, including appeals and requests to state bodies, participation in open collegial meetings of state bodies, public discussion, public hearings, public monitoring, public examination, study of public opinion, hearing by government self-government bodies of reports of heads of executive bodies and other organizations.
In the opinion of the senators, this legal act is intended to become the most important factor in ensuring the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, strict observance by the state bodies and their officials of the requirements of legislation, effective implementation of the tasks and powers assigned to them in the socio-political, socio-economic, humanitarian and other spheres.
